Callala Bay
Callala Bay is located on the Northern Shores of Jervis Bay - renowned for having the whitest sand in Australia and home for a large pod of resident dolphins.
Take a walk from Callala Bay to Red Rock Reserve and enjoy the gorgeous views. A little further along you will find Itchy Beach and Long Beach - Some of the prettiest and unspoilt accessible beaches in Australia. Here you can look through the crystal clear waters and watch the marine life and sea grass on the bottom of Jervis Bay.
Callala Bay is sheltered and offers a safehaven for around the 60 to 70 yachts permanently moored allongside the boat ramp. This provides access to Jervis Bay for fishing (permit required), sailing and some of the best SCUBA diving in the world.
The Callala Bay Triathlon, held annually, is becoming a feature on the national sports circuit.
Callala Bay is serviced by a great shopping centre including supermarket, bottleshop, chemist, butcher, newsagency, bakery & more....
Callala Beach
Callala Beach is located on the Northern Shores of Jervis Bay - renowned for having the whitest sand in Australia and home for a large pod of resident dolphins.
Callala Beach features a long stretch of unspoilt sheltered white sands and clear waters, providing safe swimming and excellent fishing (permit required). Callala Beach is especially popular for families with young children or people who prefer still water swimming.
Callala Beach has a general store, pizza parlour, petrol station and a Sportsman's Club which has bowling greens, a scenic nine-hole golf course and an excellent Chinese/Thai Restaurant. Visitors are welcome.
Culburra Beach
Located 20 km East of Nowra, Culburra Beach is the regional centre for the coastal villages.
If you are looking to 'ride the waves', Culburra has two beaches which are patrolled during the summer holiday period, providing a variety of surf conditions for board riders as well as families with young children.
Whether you are spending the week, the weekend or just the day at Culburra Beach, there are plenty of things to do, including having lunch in one of the many picnic areas ideally located with the water near by or discover one of the many landmarks including the historical lighthouse, which provides stunning waterviews over the whole of the Crookhaven Bight.
Lake Woolumboola lends itself to canoeing, kyaking, windsurfing or just to explore the waterways in a tinny, while admiring the abundance of wildlife.
If fishing (permit required) is more your thing the regional boatramp is located at Crookhaven Heads and provides access to the Crookhaven and Shoalhaven Rivers, which on their own offer so much to see.
In the township you will find cafe's, giftshops and businesses providing a range of services for visitors to the region to enjoy. The local Bowling Club has entertainment most weekends, bingo, bowling greens and a Chinese Restaurant for your convenience.
Myola
Myola is a tranquil, secluded, one-street village on the beautiful Jervis Bay, where the road ends and the Currembine Creek flows into the bay.
Myola is surrounded by beautiful bushlands and crystal clear waters, where you can swim, sail, fish or surf as much as you like. A nice stroll through the bush brings you to the beautiful beaches with views of the Huskisson township.
Myola has a boatramp facility where you can launch your boat.
The area is fantastic for cycling. You can make pleasant rides between Callala Beach & Callala Bay. Even better are the excellent mountain-bike tracks which the Bicycle Users Group has set-out and signposted a number of trails that range from 'easy-going' to 'challenging'.
Orient Point
Located within the Shoalhaven region of the South Coast of NSW, Orient Point is a typical coastal village, which is situated at the mouth of the Crookhaven River, overlooking the ocean, the river estuary and the surrounding mountains.
Relatively undiscovered, Orient Point has traditionally been a fishing community. For those who have discovered the area, bask in its tranquility and exceptional views.
Orient Point's unique location on both river and ocean make it ideal for water activities such as fishing, kyaking and canoeing.
Crookhaven Surf beach is only a 5 minutes drive, which is patrolled in the summer school holidays.
The area provides facilities such as a Post Office, general store, preschool and a boatramp.
Currarong
Currarong is a quiet coastal village located 33 km South/East of Nowra at the Northern end of the rugged Beecroft Peninsular.
The shops provide takeaway foods and basic groceries and the Bowling Club has a restaurant and regular entertainment. Picnic grounds are located adjacent to the main beach near the shops.
A number of spectacular walks and sheltered swimming areas can be accessed from the road to Point Perpendicular. The lookout allows spectacular views of Jervis Bay. The lighthouse is a photographers delight. Whales, dolphins and seals can often be spotted from the top of the cliffs.
While at Currarong you will find a trip to Honeymoon Bay and the lighthouse ruins at Cape St.George to be most rewarding. Both are spectacular in their own right.
Greenwell Point
Greenwell Point is located on the Southern side of the Shoalhaven River near where the river meets the ocean.
Greenwell Point is a pleasant coastal village that has a long tradition as a popular fishing destination and is also renowned for its oyster growing. Both recreational and professional fishermen use it as a base with access being available to the abundant fishing waters off the coast. The oysters are internationaly acclaimed and are available to purchase direct from the local oyster farmers.
The village has a number of shops, Bowling Club, Hotel, Restaurants, Primary School and parks. The towns take away and eat-in food outlets specialise in local seafood.
It hosts the largest dawn service in the shoalhaven on ANZAC Day, attracting thousands of people.
Boat launching facilities provide access to the river for fishing and other water activities; hire craft are available. Charter boats are available for offshore fishing and game fishing.
The annual trout festival is held in the towns' swimming pool prior to the summer swimming season. It is a fun day for all with success almost guaranteed for even the most hopeless angler.
Nowra the major retail and commercial center is just a 10 minute drive.
